Hi, I’m Janet
I grew up in a family where the “C” word, cancer, came up far too often and diabetes was always lurking aroung the corner. I have spent a lifetime trying to stay healthy and prevent what felt like was the inevitable, knowing that my family history was not on my side. When my oldest brother was diagnosed with cancer in his 30’s it became all too real for me and the shift to prevention mode became even more important. As I was determining my career path I knew that I wanted to be in the healthcare field and the holistic approach of Occupational Therapy was the best fit for me, as I was inspired by my brother’s example of living well beyond his 2 month prognosis following an alternative approach. As I was diving into my career as an OT I discovered that traditional healthcare was more focused on treating symptoms and not the cause of the disease. I have always believed that people have the innate ability to heal and wanted to provide my clients with the resources to regain health not just bandage the wound. This led me on the path to seeking out complimentary techniques to balance my career in a traditional setting with many alternative methods, including massage, yoga, life and wellness coaching. The education I received in working with cancer patients utilizing a metabolic approach, has been life altering and has even further enhanced my belief that people with metabolic disorders, including cancer, autism, ADHD and autoimmune disorders, have the power to create transformative change in their own health through lifestyle change.
